From the Paris review interview with Mario Vargas Llosa,
Q: Why do you write?
Vargas Llosa: I write because I am unhappy. I write because it is a way of fighting unhappiness.

I too started writing because I was unhappy. Although it has helped clarify my thoughts, i do wonder sometimes if writing can be counter productive. if there is such a thing as too much sharing, even between friends.I wonder what the meaning of friendship is; whether it is ever fully possible to understand someone we care about the way they need to be. I don't know the answer to this. But i still write and hope.
